The ongoing National Conference has been extended by four weeks, its chairman, Idris Kutigi, told conference delegates on Thursday.
Mr. Kutigi, a retired Chief Justice of Nigeria, told the delegates that the conference leadership met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Pius Anyim, on Wednesday night to ask for a six weeks extension.
PREMIUM TIMES had reported the six weeks extension of the confab.
The conference chairman, however, said the federal government only granted a 4 weeks extension.
With the four weeks extension, the conference, which commenced on March 17 and was to last for three months till June 19 will now end on July 17.
After the announcement, Mr. Kutigi said since the confab did not get the six weeks required, delegates would have to work Fridays and Saturdays.
The delegates shouted no, no to this.
The conference is currently discussion how best to maximise the extension.
