Immigration Tragedy: OSIWA, PREMIUM TIMES, others to hold “tweetup”

Following the death of at least 20 applicants in last Saturday’s
Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, recruitment examination, the Open
Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) in collaboration PREMIUM
TIMES, Say No Campaign, and Berekete Family Radio is organizing a
“tweetup” on Friday, March 24 to discuss its implications and lessons
learnt.

The “tweetup”, which will feature the Chairman of the Nigerian Human
rights Commission (NHRC), Chidi Odinkalu; former Minister of
Education, Oby Ezekwesili; renowned columnist, Jibrin Ibrahim;
blogger, Japheth Omojuwa; and activist, Samson Itodo, will also tweet
about the recently inaugurated National Conference.

“The event is aimed at discussing implications of these events,
bringing out lesson and challenges; and recommendations on necessary
steps,” read a statement from OSIWA.

“The tweet up is part of OSIWA’s discussion forum NaijaHaardtalk
designed to be a periodic online/offline forum to discuss relevant
national issues affecting Nigeria and the sub-region.”

The tweetup will kick off at 4 p.m. OSIWA’s media partners and other
Civil Society Organisations will participate in the tweetup
