The Oluwo of Iwo allegedly assaulted the Agbowu of Ogbaagba during a peace meeting on Friday.
The protesters, who were seen with placards, demanded the suspension of the Oluwo.
Several meetings reportedly held in Iwo to restore order ended in deadlock and this necessitated the intervention of the police.
The Oluwo of Iwo described his action as self defence.
