Iyanya’s loss

Singer Iyanya described the most painful period of his life as the two years during which he lost his father, mother, and brother.

Speaking on Hero Daniel’s podcast, the ‘Kukere’ hitmaker shared that his father died just days before a major career milestone.

Shortly after emerging from a music competition, Iyanya said his brother also passed away.

He added that his mother died just before he was due to perform at a show.

Iyanya rose to fame after winning the inaugural season of Project Fame West Africa.

EFCC charges Eezee Tee over alleged $443K fraud

The EFCC filed a three-count charge against music executive Onyedikachukwu ‘Eezee Tee’ Nwokeabia, accusing him of misappropriating $443,371 belonging to gospel artistes Mercy Chinwo and Judith ‘Judikay’ Kanayo.

This newspaper reported that  Chinwo and Eezee Tee have been in court over financial misconduct and fund diversion allegations.

The EFCC charged him and his label at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, alleging that they unlawfully converted $112,985, $260,494, and $69,892 for personal use.

Authorities said the offences violated Sections 280(1)(a) and 287 of Lagos State’s Criminal Law (2011).

Zlatan and partner

Rapper Zlatan celebrated his partner, Davita Lamai, after she earned a degree from the University of Birmingham.

In a video posted on Instagram, Zlatan cheered as she received her scroll, calling her a ‘beautiful and smart lady.’

Davita beamed with pride as she waved at him during the ceremony.

Reekado Banks says leaving Mavin Records changed his life

Singer Ayoleyi ‘Reekado Banks’ Solomon revealed on The Esther Oye Show that his 2018 exit from Mavin Records marked a significant turning point in his career.

He said he chose not to renew his contract with Don Jazzy’s label and instead pursued a new path independently.

Reekado admitted that remaining with the label might have fostered a sense of entitlement, as the team would likely have shielded him from the consequences of failure.

Instead, striking out independently taught him accountability and responsibility.

The 31-year-old is known for hit songs including Oluwa Ni, Easy (Jeje), Blessings on Me, and Pull Up.

Moji Afolayan vs the movie industry’s sexual advances

Actress Moji Afolayan alleged in an interview with Oyinmomo TV that movie marketers blacklisted her for refusing their sexual advances.

Afolayan, daughter of the late veteran Adeyemi ‘Adeluv’ Afolayan, said her refusal to date marketers and others in the industry drastically affected her career.

She claimed that during the era of marketer-led financing in Nollywood, some producers expected sexual favours in exchange for film roles.

Moji is married to fellow actor Rasaq ‘Ojopagogo’ Olayiwola.

Kemity explains why her children have different fathers

Actress Kemisola ‘Kemity’ Apesin explained on Talk To B that her first husband’s death led to her having two children with different fathers.

She said she got pregnant while in SS3 but couldn’t marry the child’s father due to her mother’s insistence on education.

Baaj Adebule shares why he won’t marry a virgin

Actor Baaj Adebule stated in an interview with Nollywood on Radio that he would rather not marry a virgin due to the emotional and physical burden of ‘deflowering’.

He described the process as traumatic and said it left lasting effects because he once experienced it.

Saka says financial woes delayed his marriage until 40

Comic actor Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, revealed on WithChude that he didn’t marry until 40 because of financial struggles and a lack of confidence as a theatre practitioner.

He recalled how a woman he once intended to marry demanded he own two cars before agreeing to wed, a moment he said made him realise she wasn’t the right one.

He blamed his mentors for failing to teach him the business side of acting, which left him financially unprepared.

Oyetoro studied Theatre Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Ibadan.

He married Olaide Oyetoro in 2003, and they have three children.

Ruth Kadiri says privacy strengthened her marriage

Actress Ruth Kadiri shared on Dear Ife that she and her husband agreed to keep their relationship private, describing it as the best decision she ever made.

She said the couple held an intimate wedding with only 50 guests in 2019 and have since welcomed two daughters.

Kadiri noted that keeping their union out of the spotlight helped them stay grounded and shielded from unnecessary public scrutiny.

Juma Jux converts Priscilla Ojo

Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, husband of Priscilla, daughter of actress Iyabo Ojo, revealed she converted from Christianity to Islam.

This newspaper earlier reported that Jux and Priscilla tied the knot in April in Lagos, with dignitaries from various backgrounds in attendance. 

During an interview on the ‘Ayo You’ podcast, Jux admitted that the conversion process was challenging and took great patience. 

He added that he also sought guidance from religious leaders, who advised him on how best to approach his wife with the conversion conversation.
