Why I married at 41 – MI Abaga 

Rapper Jude “MI” Abaga’s Journey to Self-Discovery During an interview with Jay On Air, MI Abaga shared his growth journey, revealing that he got married at 41 because he wasn’t emotionally ready for marriage earlier, a story of hope and self-discovery.

The 43-year-old said he experienced regret in his late 30s when he compared himself to friends with teenage or grown children.

Despite this, MI said he had no regrets about marrying late, adding that he eventually met his wife, whom he described as a “divine blessing”. 

He tied the knot with Eniola Mafe in September 2022, a few months after their engagement.

Magixx’s remarks ruffled feathers

Singer Magixx’s bold accusations against music streaming platforms for irregularities and artificial streaming figures have sparked a debate about the integrity of music charts and the emergence of new talent.

He aired his concerns via his X page, where he criticised artistes who allegedly inflated their streaming numbers to deceive the public.

He argued that music charts no longer reflected genuine popularity and were now skewed towards those who paid for fake streams.

Magixx, born Alexander Adelabu, began his music journey in a church choir at age 10. 

He signed to Mavin Records in September 2021 and released his debut self-titled EP, “Magixx”, later that year.

Why I quit acting – Ego Boyo 

Actress and producer Ego Boyo revealed she left acting to follow her passion for film production. 

She disclosed a preview of an upcoming “WithChude” interview.

The 56-year-old, known for her role in the 1990s soap “Checkmate”, dismissed rumours that marriage or spousal pressure influenced her decision.

Boyo, who now serves as executive producer and CEO of Temple Productions, Temple Films, and Temple Studio, began her acting career in the late 1980s. 

She gained recognition as Anne Haastrup in “Checkmate” (1991–1994) and starred as Peggy in Amaka Igwe’s 1996 film “Violated.”

DJ Cuppy praised her father, Otedola’s forthcoming book

Florence “DJ Cuppy” Otedola admired her father, billionaire Femi Otedola’s upcoming book, “Making It Big”, for release on August 18.

She posted a photo of herself reading the book on X, encouraging followers to pre-order a copy.

Mr Otedola described the memoir as reflecting on the lessons, setbacks, and triumphs that shaped his entrepreneurial journey.

Nkechi Blessing’s acting hiatus over N1m weekly gifts

Actress Nkechi Blessing revealed during an interview on “Curiosity Made Me Ask” that an anonymous benefactor paid her N1 million weekly, prompting her to extend her break from acting.

She said whenever she considered returning to the set, the mystery man would ask about her expected pay and send her more than that amount.

Blessing admitted feeling underrated earlier in her career, as people often focused more on her physique than her talent.

In October 2024, TAMPAN lifted a three-year suspension on her following a public row with Lege Miami during the Baba Ijesha saga.

IVD’s arrest 

Authorities arrested celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu “IVD” Ogbonna at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, ahead of his planned wedding to controversial relationship coach Blessing CEO.

Blogger Stella Dimoko-Korkus reported that IVD’s arrest was linked to the 2022 death of his wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, who died from injuries sustained in a domestic fire incident.

Earlier, the Lagos State Government had charged IVD with involuntary manslaughter (Suit No. LD/21055C/23).

Blessing CEO challenged the arrest via Instagram, claiming IVD faced no travel restrictions and demanded legal proof.

Davido’s billion-dollar inheritance claim

Singer Davido claimed in a viral video that he had a billion-dollar inheritance secured, even if he never worked again.

He distinguished between David Adeleke, the billionaire’s son, and Davido, the self-made artiste. Despite his wealth, he said his motivation came from passion, not money.

Chinedu Okeke denied quitting acting over typecasting

Actor Chinedu Okeke refuted claims that he quit acting due to repeated casting as an armed robber. 

He addressed the issue during an interview with Top O Onyeozizi.

He labelled the rumour false and accused blogs of using his name for attention and financial gain.

Okeke, known for his criminal roles in films like “Issakaba,” “Peace Maker,” “Shina Rambo,” and “V-Boot,” said those action roles positively shaped his career.

Tiwa Savage confirmed split with Manager, Mekka

Tiwa Savage ended her working relationship with manager Kemi “Mekka” Akunyili. 

In a now-deleted series of Instagram posts, she warned fans and promoters that she no longer worked with Mekka.

She introduced Vanessa Amadi as her new manager and said she would not take responsibility for any financial losses from dealings with Mekka.

Blessing Obasi recounted  hurtful remark from film director

Actress Blessing Obasi revealed in a Punch interview that a director once told her she was too ugly to succeed in Nollywood.

She said she had loved acting since secondary school and pursued it at university, though she took a break due to academic pressure.

Rudeboy warned artistes against weed

Paul “Rudeboy” Okoye, formerly of P-Square, warned upcoming artistes on Instagram against glamorising smoking in music videos.

He asked why they believed weed was necessary to their image and advised them to eat correctly.

He noted that many already looked unhealthy.

NIWA blamed negligence for Junior Pope’s death

The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) attributed the April 2024 death of actor Junior Pope and four crew members to human negligence.

NIWA’s MD Bola Oyebamiji disclosed this at the Multi-Modal Transportation Stakeholders’ Forum in Abuja on 31 July, saying the Anam River tragedy stemmed from a flagrant disregard for safety protocols.

Oloto’s death

Actor Kunle Afod announced the death of his colleague Odunayo Olufemi, popularly known as Oloto.

He said Oloto fell ill after attending a church service and died while seeking medical help at a hospital.
