Less than 24 hours after receiving a delegation of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed hosted the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, at the Government House in Bauchi on Wednesday.
The APC delegation included the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf. The visits followed the Bauchi governor’s statement on Tuesday that he had yet to decide which party to join, the ADC or the APC.
Mr Mohammed hosted the ADC delegation led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal. He said he had decided to quit the PDP due to the protracted internal crisis in the party.
He told reporters that he could join the ADC because he and his team felt that they were not wanted in the APC.

“We are not wanted in the APC because we are not being approached. We tried to get there, but certainly, most of the people around us prefer ADC and or other parties than APC,” Mr Mohammed had stated.

Meanwhile, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Bauchi State has called on Governor Mohammed to prioritise the collective welfare of the citizens when deciding on his future political platform.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, IPAC chairperson, Auwal Isah, stated that the council is prepared to guide the governor toward a political party that best aligns with the interests of the people of Bauchi.
The council expressed its support for the Governor’s decision to explore options outside the PDP.
Mr Isah stated that Governor Mohammed possesses the “constitutional right to associate with any political party of his choice to participate effectively in political activities.
The chairperson noted that the governor’s influence is significant, stating, “Wherever he goes, that platform will undoubtedly witness a surge in political activity.
Mr Isah further clarified that while the council was ready to offer strategic advice to the governor, IPAC remains committed to supporting him regardless of his final decision.
