Governor Charles Soludo has ordered the sack and prosecution of eight vigilante operatives involved in the assault and stripping of the female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State.
The assault, stripping
PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported that the NYSC member, Jennifer Elobor, was assaulted and stripped by operatives of Agunechemba Vigilante Group in the state.

The incident occurred on 23 July 2025 in Oba, a community in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.
The clip, however, went viral on Monday after the Haven 360 Foundation uploaded the clip on their Facebook page.

Authorities later said the vigilante operatives involved in the assault had been identified and arrested.
Sack of the operatives
Ken Emeakayi, the special adviser on community security to Governor Soludo, announced the sack of the eight vigilante operatives in Awka on Wednesday.
PREMIUM TIMES obtained a video clip showing Mr Emeakayi announcing the sack of the operatives.
He said the Anambra State Government arrested the operatives on 23 July upon receiving reports of the incident because their actions were “outside the purview” of the vigilante group’s mandate.
Mr Emeakayi said the operatives would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
The special adviser explained that the prosecution had been delayed because the assaulted corps members and their parents had pleaded for the case to be dropped, citing the possible negative effect on them.

“The Soludo administration will not tolerate any form of unprofessionalism, brutality or abuse of office by security operatives. Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal and prosecution,” he said.
Mr Emeakayi stressed that the government had already settled the victim’s medical bills, paid her damaged valuables, including a laptop and phone, and tendered a public apology to her family, NYSC and all Nigerians.
“This government is committed to professionalism, accountability and respect for human rights in all security engagements,” he stated.
