The Moving Train Entertainment Limited, the management of actress Angela Okorie, has broken its silence following the actress’s remand at the Suleja Correctional Centre over alleged cyber-related offences.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered that operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Okorie in Lagos before transferring her to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja.

Her colleague, filmmaker Stanley “Stanley Ontop” Ajemba, disclosed the development in a post on his Instagram page on Wednesday. He confirmed that the actress was charged in court and subsequently remanded.

However, Ms Okorie’s management denied the allegations in a statement issued on Thursday and posted on the Instagram page of filmmaker and actor Prince Olisa.

They insisted that the allegations levelled against the actress were unfounded.

Okorie’s management said: “The management of Angela Okorie wishes to provide clarification regarding recent reports surrounding her arrest by operatives of the Nigerian Police Force – NCCC at her residence in Lagos on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, at approximately 5:00 PM. The arrest followed a dispute involving fellow industry colleague & actress Mercy Johnson.

“During the operation, the cell phones of household occupants were seized, and her domestic staff were subjected to stressful circumstances while the operation, which lasted approximately three hours, was carried out. In the early hours of Wednesday, 28 January 2026, at about 6:00 AM, Angela Okorie was transferred from Lagos to Abuja for arraignment before the Federal High Court.”

Disagreements

Furthermore, the actress’s management confirmed that there had been prior disagreements between her and her colleague, Mercy Johnson.

According to the management, both parties mutually agreed to refrain from making negative statements about each other.

“Angela Okone has fully honoured this agreement, including issuing a public apology in line with the arrangement. Angela Okorie has not engaged in cyberbullying, harassment, or defamation of Mercy Johnson, either online or offline, directly or indirectly.

“She has never made public or private statements intended to harm Mercy Johnson’s reputation, and allegations of cyberbullying are therefore firmly disputed. On 28 January 2026, Angela Okorie was arraigned before a court, which ordered that she be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the hearing of a formal bail application scheduled for Friday, 30 January 2026”, said Okorie’s management.

Innocence

Additionally, the actress’s management criticised her remand at Suleja Prison.

They stated that she has consistently maintained her innocence and remains confident that the judicial process will establish the facts.

“This remand is procedural and does not amount to a conviction. Angela Okorie is cooperating fully with the authorities, remains in good health, and has access to her legal team. We urge the public, fans, bloggers, and media outlets to respect due process, avoid speculation, and refrain from spreading unverified or misleading information.

“All further updates will be communicated through official and verified channels only. Angela Okorie sincerely appreciates the concern, prayers, and continued support from her fans and well-wishers during this period. Kind Regards.”

Background

As of press time, details of the alleged cybercrime, defamation and other offences that led to the actress’s arrest remained unclear.

However, this newspaper earlier reported that the actresses had been involved in a long-running and highly publicised feud.

The dispute began in June 2025 when Okorie accused Johnson of battling an illness and of using religious language that, in her view, did not align with her conduct.

She also urged Johnson to seek forgiveness from those she had allegedly wronged.

The feud later widened to include actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels, the wife of Ned Nwoko, the senator representing Delta North, who exchanged harsh words with Okorie on social media.

In response, Okorie referred to Mr Nwoko as an “ancestor” and claimed she could never associate with what she described as “dirty people”.

However, in July 2025, Okorie issued a public apology to both Johnson and Mr Nwoko after months of online confrontations.

In a post on her Instagram page, she admitted that her emotions got the better of her and expressed remorse for the hurtful remarks.

She also apologised to Mr Nwoko, acknowledging their previously cordial relationship.
