Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson has given reasons for withdrawing the defamation charges she brought against Nigerian TikToker Eedie Bliss.
In December 2025, Ms Bliss shared a video claiming that Mercy’s husband, Prince Okojie, purchased a house for his pregnant mistress.

In a video discussing the claims, Eedie Bliss cited blogger Cutie Juls as her source, while also claiming that the actress was involved in actions that led to the woman losing the pregnancy.
This led to the arrest of the TikToker, who was then detained in Abuja after Mr Okojie filed a petition.

Following a public outcry, with many pleading on the blogger’s behalf, Mercy, 41, announced that the charges against her have been dropped and that her release has been secured.
Consideration
Taking to her Instagram page, the actress said that the decision to drop the charges arose from the love and respect her family has for numerous individuals who pleaded on the blogger’s behalf.
She, however, noted that it’s no longer business as usual, as she would be pursuing other defamation cases.
“I had like plans later this year for some things I had outlined to do, and I’m guessing perhaps making trouble or court cases is going to be a part of them because some people just won’t leave me alone, my family alone.
“I am dropping my case with this girl out of respect for people, and my husband, whom I respect and love,” she said.
She further alleged that actresses own these blogs that carry such damaging reports against her and her family.
She said, “You have seen it before. People have come out to accuse bloggers of collecting money and writing things they want them to write. It shouldn’t be news to you. I don’t understand why you people like tearing things down and destroying. It’s upsetting.
“I have teenagers who are in school, who are being bullied in school because of the things that you write. There are parents telling their kids not to let my kids touch their school bag because I’m a witch. What’s wrong with you people?”
Burden of proof
The mother of four further stated that it’s no longer business as usual, as anyone who alleges must prove their allegations.
“If you use your handle, your face to allege, you will prove. So just be certain. I still have many more cases since you guys have chosen that is how you want my 2026 to be, because I’m not going to allow my kids to get bullied because of your lies.
“But I’m happy that in everything you guys have written, even in your heart of hearts, you know, I no follow una. I no dey with you. I know that my hands are clean. I am clean. If I’m not, come out and say it. So throw your stones all you want, but whoever alleges will have to prove,” Mercy added.
Although she has dropped the case against the blogger, Mercy said it doesn’t mean the rest of her cases are dropped, as she will continue to pursue them in accordance with the law.
“I don’t care who’s doing better. I’m just in my lane. Please leave me alone. Leave my name and my husband’s name out of your mouth. I’m in my lane. In my husband’s house, where he has instructed me to sit. That’s where I am, seated. Doing my thing.
I don’t know how that bothers you,” she said.
