Borno on Sunday night recorded its first coronavirus index case who later died.
The man died at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) at about 4 p.m.
The police say they are investigating the crime.
The official says it would be disastrous to close down the hospital.
At least 22 people were injured in the attacks.
