FRSC says road traffic crashes are a leading cause of death and disability in Nigeria

“Insecurity has been one of our major challenges too. But it is not restricted to Anambra State.”

Agency says 856 people were involved in crashes this year, up from 760 in 2017.

The bureau attributed the major cause of road crashes in the first quarter to speed violation.

The government says 1,175 persons received various degrees of injuries in the crashes

The FRSC said 423 persons died and 2,339 others were wounded in 768 road traffic accidents.

Speed violation was identified as the major cause of accidents.

Abuja recorded the highest number of accidents, followed by Kaduna and Niger States.

Reckless driving accounted for about a third of the accidents.

A total of 22 people were injured in both accidents.
