Eagles fly over Liverpool
At Selhurst Park, Liverpool’s title defence suffered its first major blow.
Crystal Palace stretched their unbeaten run to 18 games after Eddie Nketiah’s scrappy finish deep into stoppage time sealed a 2-1 win.

Ismaila Sarr had put Palace in front early, before Federico Chiesa struck in the 87th minute to level for the Reds.
Liverpool looked set to salvage a point, but Palace’s persistence paid off, cutting the champions’ lead at the top to just three points and elevating Oliver Glasner’s side into second place.
Chelsea also suffered late heartbreak. Leading Brighton 1-0 through Enzo Fernandez’s first-half header, their afternoon collapsed after Trevoh Chalobah’s red card early in the second half.

Brighton piled on the pressure, with Danny Welbeck equalising before stoppage-time goals from Maxim De Cuyper and Welbeck again sealed a 3-1 defeat. It was Chelsea’s second straight league loss, following last weekend’s sending-off of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
Earlier on Saturday, Manchester United’s misery continued as Brentford ran out 3-1 winners in London.
Igor Thiago struck twice inside the opening 20 minutes, exposing United’s shaky defence.
Benjamin Sesko briefly gave the visitors hope with his first Premier League goal, but Bruno Fernandes missed a crucial penalty midway through the second half, denied by Caoimhín Kelleher.
The miss proved costly, as Mathias Jensen smashed in Brentford’s third in stoppage time. United have now lost three of their six league games this season and are still waiting for consecutive wins under Ruben Amorim.
Ruthless City
Manchester City, meanwhile, showed no mercy in a 5-1 thrashing of Burnley.
Erling Haaland scored twice in stoppage time to take his tally to eight goals this season, four clear in the Golden Boot race.

City also benefited from two own goals by Maxime Esteve and a rare strike from Matheus Nunes, while Jaidon Anthony netted Burnley’s consolation.
The win kept City within striking distance of Liverpool.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth struck late to secure a 2-2 draw at Leeds, while Sunderland edged Nottingham Forest 1-0, extending new manager Ange Postecoglou’s wait for a first win.
