A 36-year-old man, Animashaun Khalid, has been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command after he was arrested for allegedly impersonating an Army Major by the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Ikeja
In a statement on Monday, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said Mr Khalid was arrested by soldiers at the Arena Market in Oshodi while in possession of a forged Nigerian Army identity card bearing his name and the rank of Major.

“The suspect was apprehended at the Arena Market, Oshodi, with a forged Nigerian Army identity card bearing his name and the rank of Major by soldiers and was immediately handed over to the Lagos State Police Command in a seamless operation, underscoring strong inter-agency collaboration,” Mr Hundeyin said.

He added that the case had been assigned to Special Squad I of the command for thorough investigation.

“The investigation aims at tracing the source of the forgery, identifying accomplices, and determining whether the suspect used the fake identity to commit other offences. The swift arrest and prompt handover underscore the importance of synergy among security agencies in tackling crime,” he said.
Mr Hundeyin further urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, assuring that security agencies would continue to work together to enhance safety in Lagos State.
