The EFCC has reacted to a viral video featuring a man, Olakunle Folarin, who claimed to be one of its officials.
Mr Folarin claimed while appearing on a matchmaking show hosted by actor and self-proclaimed relationship adviser, Adams “Lege Miami” Kehinde.

The matchmaking show is a social media-based platform that offers singles, both in Nigeria and abroad, the avenue to meet their potential spouses.
Lege Miami told the Punch newspaper in March 2024 that the show isn’t designed for casual hook-ups and that its services extend beyond the general public to include well-known individuals.

In the video, obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Folarin displayed the anti-graft agency’s identity card during his appearance on the social media-based show as he attempted to woo a participant, Jennifer, who was also seeking a partner.
He further stated that he was an EFCC officer based in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The video prompted a response from the EFCC, which clarified in a statement posted on its official social media platforms on Monday.
The Commission said Mr Folarin was not an operative but a former driver at its Ibadan Zonal Directorate.
The Commission condemned the 37-year-old’s conduct and disclosed that its Chairperson, Ola Olukoyede, has directed that appropriate measures be taken against him.
The statement partly read: “Folarin was recently dismissed from the Commission for certificate forgery. He was a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.
“The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered his arrest for having some Commission’s properties, including an Identity Card, which he should have handed over upon being dismissed from the EFCC.”
The EFCC cautioned the public not to associate Mr Folarin’s conduct after his dismissal with the Commission.
Lege Miami’s matchmaking show
Lege Miami’s matchmaking show is quite controversial as it is popular among Nigerians and foreigners. One of the notable controversies was in June 2023, when the late Alaafin of Oyo’s wife, Queen Dami, joined the search for a match with single participants.
Lege Miami ridiculed her for looking for a husband while dressed modestly.
When introducing her to the audience, Lege Miami made disparaging remarks about Queen Dami’s search for a partner and her choice of attire.
He also insisted that she speak in English, even if she struggled.
This occurred a year after the death of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who died on 22 April 2022, at the age of 83.
A year later, Queen Dami found love with singer Portable.
However, the relationship ended after she went live on Instagram and invited Portable to join the conversation.
During the live stream, Portable confronted her, accusing her of prostituting herself online.
Despite Queen Dami’s attempts to lighten the mood with friendly banter, Portable continued his tirade, forcing her to end the session abruptly.
