Lagos East Senator Tokunbo Abiru has distributed food packs to “12,000 households” across the district’s five local government areas to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
Mr Abiru also distributed 75 cows and 200 rams to royal fathers, clerics, community leaders, and party leaders in the district.

The distribution took place on Wednesday in the district comprising Ikorodu, Epe, Somolu, Kosofe, and Ibeju Lekki LGAs.
The food packs—containing rice and garri per household—were branded with the names of ‘President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ and ‘Senator Abiru.’

The outreach is part of the senator’s #DoingGood initiative targeted at vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, the elderly, women, and unemployed youths, many of whom were shortlisted through an online nomination process.
Speaking during the event at his Ikorodu constituency office, Mr Abiru, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirmed his commitment to supporting constituents during festive seasons, especially amid current economic challenges.
He emphasised the need for collaborative efforts at all levels of government to alleviate hardship.
“This programme reflects our continued commitment to the welfare of the people of Lagos East… especially during seasons of spiritual reflection and celebration like Eid-el-Kabir,” he stated.
The event drew commendations from community leaders, including Abiodun Ogunleye, a former deputy governor of Lagos State and APC leader in Ikorodu Division.

Mr Abiru, a chartered accountant, left the banking industry to contest in the senatorial election.
He was elected in the 2020 by-election following the death of the district’s former senator, Bayo Osinowo, popularly called Pepper.
He was re-elected in 2023.
