The remains of a retired priest of The African Church in Akwa Ibom State, Joseph Imukudo, would be laid to rest on Friday, 10 April, at Ikot Ebak Community in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.
The late priest was the father of a PREMIUM TlMES reporter, Saviour Imukudo.
He died on 2 November 2025 at the age of 66 after a brief illness. He was born on 7 July 1959 and hailed from Ikot Ebak in Mkpat Enin.
His only son, Saviour, who is the chief mourner, disclosed the details of the funeral ceremony in a statement on Monday.

Funeral arrangements
According to the statement, funeral activities will begin with the opening of the mourning house on Monday, 6 April, at the deceased’s compound in Ikot Ebak.
A Service of Hymns will be held on Thursday, 9 April, at 6 p.m. at St. Stephen’s African Church, Ikot Ebak.
On Friday, 10 April, the body of the late priest will lie in state at the deceased’s compound at 9 a.m., followed by a brief commendation service at the same St. Stephen’s African Church by 10 a.m.
Thereafter, a motorcade procession will convey the remains for the burial service at 11 a.m. at the Ibiaku Clan Community Secondary School grounds.

The family has invited friends, associates, and well-wishers to the funeral ceremony.
Biography
The late Imukudo served in the ministry of The African Church for over three decades, beginning his clerical journey in 1986. He was ordained a deacon in 1992, priested in 1993, and elevated to the rank of archdeacon in 2003. He retired honourably in May 2023 after 37 years of service.
Before his retirement, he served at The African Church, Trinity Archdeaconry, Okop Ndua Erong, in Uyo Central Diocese, located in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area. His ministry emphasised repentance, discipline, and reconciliation.
Beyond the church, he was known for his commitment to community development and moral leadership. Following his retirement, he was installed as an adviser to the Nung Odung Family in Ikot Ebak.
