Following the declaration of the commencement of Ramadan fasting by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi has approved the reduction of official working hours for all public servants in the state.
This is contained in a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Establishment, Pension and Training, Hafsat Ibrahim-Tune, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
She said: “The Kebbi Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, has approved the reduction of the official working hours by two hours during the current Ramadan fasting period.
“The new working hours are as follows: Monday to Thursday is 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.”
Mrs Ibrahim-Tune said in response to the new development, workers across the state were expected to be at their places of work up to 2:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and 12:00 p.m. on Friday.

She, however, said the normal official working hours would resume at the end of the Ramadan period.
