Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has constituted a high-level committee to represent the state at the forthcoming zonal public hearing on the constitution review process.
The Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution had scheduled the public hearings in the six geopolitical zones, with the North-west session to be held in Kano.
The move, ensuring the state’s voice is heard in the crucial national exercise, was disclosed in a press release issued on Friday by Abdullahi Yar’adua, the Director of Press, Office of the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State.
The statement noted that Governor Radda mandated the committee to articulate and present a “unified position” for Katsina State.

The 20-member committee comprises of lawyers, academics, traditional rulers, and public service veterans.
The Chairperson of the committee is Ibrahim Ida, a senator. He is joined by the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, the Commissioner of Security and Internal Affairs, and representatives from the Katsina State House of Assembly and High Court of Justice, among others.
Notable figures on the committee include Justice Sadiq Mahuta, Ahmad Ahmad, Sadiq Radda, a professor at the Bayero University Kano (BUK) and Binta Dan-Ali, a professor at y Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina (UMYUK).

The legal and civil society communities are represented by the chairman of the NBA in the state and the chairman of CSOs in Katsina.
Governor Radda “urged the Committee to conduct broad consultations and ensure that the views and aspirations of the good people of Katsina State are well-articulated and effectively presented during the hearing.”
The governor “reiterated the commitment of his administration to genuine constitutional reform that promotes inclusive governance, equity, justice, and sustainable development across Nigeria,” the statement noted.
