Stablecoins have given cross-border payment companies a faster way to move value between markets. They have also handed compliance teams a new set of questions.
For every stablecoin payment that passes through its network, Oneremit now asks three: Where did the funds come from? Where are they going? And can the company prove both, long after the transaction is complete?

To answer them, the Lagos-based cross-border payments company has integrated Blockradar, the stablecoin wallet infrastructure provider used by fintechs, exchanges and cross-border providers across emerging markets.
The first question is answered at the door. Wallet addresses involved in incoming stablecoin deposits are screened automatically against anti-money laundering (AML) and OFAC sanctions lists before funds are accepted. Oneremit identifies a deposit linked to a flagged or blacklisted wallet before it can enter its treasury.

The second is answered on the way out. Outgoing transfers go through the same screening, so Oneremit can pause, hold for review, or block a payout destined for a high-risk address, with Oneremit’s compliance team immediately.
The third is answered in the record. Every screening result, whether passed or failed, is attached to the transaction it belongs to. That gives Oneremit a clean, time-stamped trail for reconciliation, audits, and regulatory reporting across the jurisdictions it operates in, including Nigeria, Canada, and the United States. If a regulator in Toronto or Abuja asks about a single transfer months after it settled, the answer is already on file.
Behind the screening sits the rest of Blockradar’s infrastructure: non-custodial wallets, automatic sweeping of deposits into a central treasury, and support for major stablecoins including USDT and USDC across multiple blockchains. The result: stablecoin liquidity is easier to track and harder to lose sight of.

“Speed only matters if you can stand behind every payment you move,” said Hammed Afenifere, CEO and co-founder of Oneremit. “Stablecoins let us settle faster than traditional banking allows. Blockradar means that speed doesn’t come at the expense of knowing exactly who is on either side of the transaction.”
The integration matters more as volumes grow. For a payments company working across several regulatory regimes, screening cannot rely on someone manually checking a list. It has to run on every transaction, in real time, and leave an audit trail.
“Stablecoins should work in the background whether users know they’re using them or not, and so should the compliance behind them work the same way,” said Morgan Williams, co founder and COO of Blockradar. “Oneremit is building exactly that way: screening every wallet on every transaction.”
The company has processed more than $200 million in outgoing cross-border transactions in under two years, while partnerships with providers including OwlPay and Blockradar are supporting the next phase of its settlement infrastructure. For the businesses paying suppliers and partners through Oneremit, most of this is invisible, and it is meant to be. What they see is a payment that arrives. What sits underneath is a system checking that it should.
