The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has commended Nigeria’s security and regulatory agencies for sustaining a high operational tempo throughout August.
Speaking at the second edition of the Agency’s monthly joint security press briefing, Mr Issa-Onilu said the coordinated actions of the military, police and regulatory agencies underscore the government’s determination to tackle insecurity, crime and other threats to national stability.

According to Mr Issa-Onilu, the Nigerian Army conducted 261 operations nationwide, while the Nigeria Police carried out 210 operations. These combined efforts led to the arrest of 1,950 suspects and the rescue of 141 kidnap victims.
The Director General further revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) secured 588 convictions and recovered significant sums in both local and foreign currencies during the month under review.

He also highlighted major strides by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), which arrested 944 suspects and seized over 66,255 kg of narcotics. In addition, the agency rehabilitated 854 drug users, showcasing a comprehensive approach that combines law enforcement with rehabilitation.
Mr Issa-Onilu emphasised that these collective efforts demonstrate the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while also promoting a sense of security and stability across the country. He assured that NOA will continue to simplify complex security and tactical operations into clear and accessible updates for the public.
The briefing was attended by representatives of key security and response agencies, including the Army, Navy, Police, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service, Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Correctional Service, Department of State Services (DSS), Defence Headquarters, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), among others.
