A woman has died after the car she was driving crashed into a roadside building at Mongoro, inward Ile-Zik, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ikeja, Lagos.
The woman was driving a Toyota Sienna with registration number LND 162 HB and was the only occupant of the vehicle when the crash occurred.

According to a statement posted on X on Sunday by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), said the incident occured “over the weekend” without being specific.
But it said preliminary findings showed that the victim lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the carriageway and crashed into the building.

LASTMA officials on routine patrol responded to the scene and placed safety cones around the affected section to protect other road users and prevent another crash during the recovery operation.
The agency stated that the crash briefly affected traffic flow, but movement returned to normal after its officials intervened.
Police officers from Afonka Police Post, under the Shasha Divisional Police Headquarters, also supported the LASTMA officials during the evacuation.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the crash as a sad reminder of the danger posed by excessive speed and reckless driving.
“Every journey must be undertaken with prudence, patience and an unwavering commitment to established traffic regulations. No destination is worth the ultimate sacrifice of human life,” Mr Bakare-Oki said.
He urged motorists to obey speed limits and drive with caution, noting that excessive speed remains one of the major causes of fatal crashes.
Mr Bakare-Oki also advised motorists to check their vehicles before setting out and to stop driving if they notice any mechanical problem until the fault has been properly fixed.
The crash comes amid continuing concerns about road safety in Lagos.
In March, one person was killed and six others injured in a road crash in Lagos.

LASTMA noted that excessive speeding, poor vehicle maintenance and reckless driving were among the major factors contributing to crashes on major roads in the state. One killed, six injured in Lagos road crash.
LASTMA also rescued 1,075 injured crash victims across Lagos in 2025.
The agency also impounded 17,169 vehicles for various traffic offences, including reckless driving and mechanical defects. In addition, 17,169 vehicles were impounded in Lagos in 2025.
The agency expressed sympathy to the family and loved ones of the deceased and prayed for strength and comfort for them.
