The Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended judgement of the High Court of Oyo State, affirming the party’s national convention held in November last year at Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The party’s national Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, in a statement on Friday in Abuja, described it as a “vindication of both fact and law”.

He said that the Turaki-led party was informed of the judgement of the court, sitting in Ibadan, delivered by Ladiran Akintola.
The court had granted all the prayers of the claimant, Folahan Adelabi, declaring the National Convention held in Ibadan as properly conducted.

The state high court also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise and give full effect to all decisions and outcomes reached at the said convention, the same having been found to be proper and lawful.
Mr Ememobong noted that the suit was filed by Musibau Adetunbi, a SAN, on behalf of his client, Mr Adelabi, a card-carrying member of the party, to protect his constitutional right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association.
He also noted that the suit sought, among other prayers, an order compelling the PDP to conduct its elections as publicly advertised, and a further order directing INEC to honour the outcomes of the convention.
Mr Ememobong recalled that the court had earlier granted an order to that effect on 3 November 2025 and renewed the same on 14 November 2025- the legal basis upon which the convention proceeded on 15 and 16 November 2025.
“This judgement affirms and gives final effect to those earlier orders.
“The party welcomes this judgment as a vindication of both fact and law.
“It reaffirms the obvious fact that the Ibadan convention was conducted properly, transparently, and in full compliance with the party’s constitution and the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We commend the Honourable Court for its courage and fidelity to justice,” he said.
Mr Ememobong reaffirmed PDP’s faith in the Nigerian judiciary as an independent arbiter and the last hope of the ordinary citizen.
“The party remains committed to pursuing all legitimate legal avenues to ensure that justice is fully served.
“We are confident that the appellate courts will, in like manner, uphold the law without fear or favour, affection or ill will,” Mr Ememobong said.
PREMIUM TIMES reported earlier on Friday on Friday that the Oyo State High Court judgment was far from being a final resolution of the nagging hydra-headed leadership crisis of the party.
The judgement came amid the wait for the judgement of the Court of Appeal in Abuja on the disputes.
On 13 February, the Court of Appeal in Abuja reserved its judgement after hearing multiple appeals emanating from different High Court judgements on the matter.
