BUA Foods reported a 90.9 per cent boost in after-tax profit for 2025, taking its earnings to the highest on record amid a reasonable jump in revenue and drop in cost pressures.
Turnover for the maker of sugar, flour and pasta jumped to N1.8 trillion from N1.5 trillion a year ago, according to the unaudited report of the company issued on Thursday, with a sizeable increase in the bakery flour business driving the growth.

The strong earnings performance also derived strength from some cost-cutting measures, which softened the pressure of expenditure on bottom line.
The company sharply reduced finance costs to N21.9 billion from N203.2 billion as it found significant relief in foreign exchange stability during 2025, unlike the preceding year when currency volatility forced it to incur N173.3 billion in foreign exchange loss.

Also boosting earning, net finance (costs) income fell by as much as 92.3 per cent to N14.4 billion.
“Profitability improved significantly during the year, with Profit After Tax increasing by 91% and EBITDA reaching ₦575 billion, reflecting sustained operational efficiencies, margin expansion, and prudent cost management,” Managing Director Ayodele Abioye said in a separate statement.
“Looking ahead, BUA Foods remains focused on margin preservation within a competitive operating environment while advancing its ongoing business expansion projects,” he added.

The manufacturer, which currently has a market value of N14.4 trillion, announced last September that it had commenced the expansion of its pasta production plant, aimed at introducing nine new long-cut pasta lines with a view to doubling its annual capacity.
It also disclosed a major capacity expansion in its flour division with four ultramodern wheat milling plans.
Profit before tax rose to N534.9 billion from N284.3 billion, while profit after tax climbed to N507.7 billion from N266 billion.
Net profit margin, a profitability metric which measures how much of revenue that has been turned into profit, stood at 28.1 per cent, up from 17.4 per cent.
