The Olusin of Isanlu Isin and Chairperson of the Isin Traditional Council, Oba Solomon Oloyede, has directed residents of Isanlu Isin and neighbouring communities to profile non-indigenes as part of efforts to curb insecurity in the area.
The directive follows recent attacks and kidnappings in the Isin and neighbouring local government areas in the southern senatorial district of Kwara State.
The attacks, in which some vigilante members were killed and their motorcycles destroyed, have heightened fears among residents and triggered fresh security measures by community leaders.
Jacob Ayanda, the Vice President of the Isanlu Isin Development Association, who conveyed the ruler’s message in a statement, quoted Mr Oloyede as saying the measure was necessary to “ascertain the true identities of residents, distinguish those with genuine ties to the community, and identify individuals with questionable backgrounds who may pose a security threat.”

Mr Ayanda said the traditional ruler issued the directive during meetings with chiefs, ward heads, vigilantes, youth and women leaders, and representatives of non-indigenous groups in the area.
“To be able to keep our bushes and forest safe and thereby keep the community secure from any attack, a standing order that has to remain to avoid unwanted visitors is hereby given,” he declared.
“You must be careful of all unidentified guests. Whoever is found with such persons, they and the guests will be handed over to law enforcement agencies,” the traditional ruler warned.

Mr Oloyede also stressed the need to secure bushes and forests around the town, describing them as critical hideouts for criminals. “Both government security agencies and local vigilantes are fully mobilised to protect the area, but you all must be security conscious and share information in your reach immediately to help save our community,” he added.
The Olusin, however, reassured law-abiding residents and business owners, whether indigenes or not, that they would continue to be accommodated and protected.
He also commended the efforts of security operatives in the area, pledging that their sacrifices would be recognised.
