A new star has emerged at Liverpool FC. Rio Ngumoha, a 16-year-old forward of Nigerian and Guadeloupean descent, made history on Monday night by becoming Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer after netting a dramatic 100th-minute winner in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
Born in Newham, East London, on 29 August 2008, Ngumoha struck deep into stoppage time on his Premier League debut, sealing an unforgettable win for Arne Slot’s side.

He made his debut for the England U15S in 2023, represented the U16S later that year, and joined the England U17 setup in October 2024.
He was also part of the squad for the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
Ngumoha’s historic moment
Liverpool looked in control when Ryan Gravenberch opened the scoring in the 35th minute, followed by Hugo Ekitike’s strike just after the restart.
Newcastle, reduced to 10 men after Anthony Gordon’s red card, fought back to 2-2 through Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula, setting up a tense finale.
In the dying seconds, Ngumoha — introduced late in the game — calmly slotted home the winning goal, sending Liverpool’s fans into wild celebrations.

Arne Slot’s Reaction
In his post-match press conference, Liverpool manager Arne Slot praised his team’s resilience and hailed Ngumoha’s composure under pressure:
