The management of Classic FM has announced the demise of one of its staff, Temisan Okomi.
The late Temisan was a prominent Nigerian sports broadcaster, journalist, and media personality.

A statement from the radio station said that the seasoned sports broadcaster died following a brief illness.
“Until his passing, Temisan was the Group Head of the Sports Department. He was a valued member of our team whose contributions and presence will be deeply missed.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult time,” the statement reads.
Tributes
Following the announcement of his passing, friends and colleagues of the late broadcaster have been sending in their tributes.
Nigerian writer and social commentator, Japheth Omojuwa, described the late Temisan as full of life and intentional about putting young people on.

“He played his part in helping to get several people’s careers started who have themselves gone on to do some extraordinary things. Life is what it is. He lived a full life and was never shy of taking a stand whenever he needed to.
“His passing comes as a rude shock. May his soul rest in peace. @temiokomi was one of us, and I wish he had stayed a little longer to witness his @Arsenal lift the EPL trophy. But God knows best,” he wrote.
Ayo Oyalowo, the executive director of finance for the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, observed that the late Temisan lived a full life and was never shy of taking a stand whenever he needed to.
“I made some personal promises to him the day he visited me at home, and we took this picture, and by the grace of God, I will fulfil that promise to his wife and his boys.
“Temi, may your restless soul now find peace, comfort and eternal rest in the bosom of our Lord. I haven’t cried in a long while, but I have been crying today, and I will never forget the gift of your friendship. Rest on, big guy, till we meet to part no more,” Oyalowo wrote.

Alli-Balogun H.Lekan described the late broadcaster as a very grounded family man who took pride in his children’s academic achievements.
“He always has great plans and ideas. I was thinking of surprising him by showing up at his new lounge in Ota. And all of a sudden, he left everything behind. The unpredictability of life is frightening. Rest in peace, Bossman,” Alli-Balogon wrote.
Temisan Okomi
The late Temisan was widely respected for his deep insights into the industry affairs and his desire to mentor younger journalists.
His career as a broadcaster spanned over two decades, during which he worked across several notable media platforms in Nigeria.
He contributed to HiTV and Lagos Television (LTV) in his early years as a sportscaster and reporter.
He was also a frequent presenter and journalist for Lagos Talks 91.3.
In March 2014, he joined Classic FM 97.3 and rose to become the Group Head of Sports, a position which he held until his demise.
The late Temisan Okomi is survived by his wife, Veronica, and three sons.
