Gideon Okeke announced mother’s death

Actor Gideon Okeke announced the death of his mother, Chikadibia Fidelia, in a post shared on his Instagram page.

He reflected on their close bond and described her passing as his greatest fear. Okeke revealed that his mother died on 16 November 2025 and also shared details of her burial arrangements.

The family of gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu-Adeoye, popular for her song, “Omije Ojumi”, cancelled her initial burial arrangements.

Fellow gospel artiste Akinola “Alayo Melody Singer” Ayoola disclosed the decision in an Instagram post.

The family had initially scheduled her burial for 21 January, with activities set to begin on 20 January with a service of songs at the LTV 8 Ground in Ikeja, Lagos.

Ayoola said unresolved family issues prompted the cancellation and added that the family would announce a new date.

PREMIUM TIMES reported that the singer died at 46. She began singing at 10 and later left a banking career to pursue music full-time, rising to fame with *Omije Ojumi*.

Uju Anya spoke on attraction to women

US-based Nigerian professor Uju Anya disclosed that she became attracted to women ten years into her marriage to her former husband.

She made the revelation during an interview on WithChude.

Anya said she loved her ex-husband and stressed that their marriage was genuine, describing their relationship as exciting and fulfilling. She added that she later found love with Cameroonian-American sociologist Sirry Alang, whom she described as her dream wife.

The couple got engaged in March 2024 and married later that year. Anya lectures at Carnegie Mellon University in the United States.

Doris Ogala cried out over alleged abuse

Actress Doris Ogala said she feared she might not live long due to what she described as harmful actions taken against her by Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry in Lagos.

She made the claims in a now-viral video.

This newspaper reported that both parties had remained in the news for months. Ogala accused the cleric of failing to fulfil a marriage promise and alleged that he ruined her life.

She said she had suffered multiple miscarriages, medical evacuations of unborn children, repeated arrests, and detentions. Ogala also claimed the alleged abuse could affect her ability to speak and appealed to her cousin to check on her.

Harrysong said feud with Kcee stalled his career

Singer Harrison “Harrysong” Okiri said his prolonged rift with former label boss Kcee negatively affected his career and creativity for years.

He spoke during an interview on Jusmen FM.

Harrysong left Five Star Music in 2016, saying he refused to renew his contract because he wanted to grow professionally. The label later accused him of breaching a three-year deal that required him to release three albums.

In 2023, Harrysong accused the label of withholding royalties, engaging in unfair treatment, and suppressing his creativity, claiming he wrote several of its hit songs. He also alleged harassment and abuse during his time at the label. Kcee and Five Star Music denied the allegations, sparking a prolonged public dispute.

Princess asked pastors to help her find husband

Comedian Oluwadamilola “Princess” Adekoya appealed to several pastors to help her find a life partner.

She made the plea in a video posted on her Instagram page.

Princess said she struggled to remarry since her divorce from Jeremiah Adeshola, which ended two weeks after their 2013 wedding.

She specifically mentioned pastors Joshua Selman, Femi Lazarus, Jerry Eze, Phillip Olubakin and Bolaji Idowu.

She said it took courage to make her request public and vowed to continue mentioning the pastors’ monthly until her prayer was answered.

Phyna said Iyabo Ojo withdrew support because of VDM

BBNaija season seven winner Josephina “Phyna” Otabor said actress Iyabo Ojo stopped supporting her because of her friendship with activist Martins “VeryDarkMan” Otse.

She made the claim during a Twitch livestream.

Phyna recalled that Ojo previously engaged actively with her social media posts but later withdrew support. She admitted that aligning with VDM damaged her relationships with other influencers.

The reality star also said she regretted insulting former BBNaija housemate Victoria “Vee” Adeleye in VDM’s defence.

Wode Maya, wife announced pregnancy

Ghanaian YouTuber Wode Maya announced that he and his wife, content creator Miss Trudy, were expecting their first child after enduring six miscarriages.

He shared the news on his X page, alongside photos from his maternity shoot.

Maya revealed that doctors had once told them they might never have children, even before his proposal in December 2022. He said his wife became pregnant again in 2025, describing the journey as one marked by resilience, faith, and hope.

Maya is a Ghanaian digital influencer and aeronautical engineer who rose to prominence while studying in China.

Carter Efe announced separation from baby mama

Content creator Carter Efe announced that he had separated from his baby mama, Emmanuella, more than a year earlier.

He shared the update on his X page and thanked God for positive changes in his life.

In a series of Instagram Stories, Carter alleged that the relationship caused serious personal and professional setbacks, including financial struggles and a three-month separation from his daughter.

He said he had since moved on, refocused on his work, and regained happiness.

Content creator Sunshine died after surgery complications

Skit maker Esther “Sunshine” Thomas died, her family confirmed in a post on her Instagram page.

The family said she died following complications from surgery for a fibroid.

Fellow content creator Chidera Madu revealed that Sunshine began experiencing stomach pain on December 28, 2025, and was initially treated for the pain due to an ongoing doctors’ strike.

She was later transferred to another hospital on 2 January, underwent surgery and developed complications that led to her death.

Friends and colleagues later sought public donations to support her burial, noting that Sunshine was an orphan with only one brother, who is currently incarcerated and financially unable to bear the costs.

Davido, Peller lost bets on Super Eagles

Afrobeats singer Davido and streamer Peller lost $50,000 and $3,000, respectively, after Nigeria’s Super Eagles lost to Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final.

This newspaper reported that Nigeria lost 4–2 on penalties after a goalless 120-minute draw in Rabat. Davido had predicted a Nigerian win in the match.

The singer previously won about $96,564 after betting on Nigeria’s group-stage victory over Tanzania.

However, he lost a $10,000 bet during Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Gabon after the match ended 1–1 in regulation time.
