Afrobeats singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, and Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, released ‘Jogodo’ as a collaborative single from their long-awaited album.
The song, released on 16 January, is the first single from their upcoming joint EP titled ‘REAL, Vol. 1’, which will be released on 23 January.

The EP ’REAL, Vol. 1’ has four confirmed tracks, ‘Turbulence,’ ‘Jogodo,’ ‘Iskolodo,’ and ‘Alaye,’ which the singers promised to give their fans as a masterpiece in their recent appearance together.
This project is their first official joint EP, even though they have worked together before on songs like ‘MMS’ and ‘Bad Girl.’

Jogodo
The three-minute track, Jogodo, which was released unannounced, had a strong debut. It entered at No. 1 on Spotify Nigeria with 1.388 million streams on its first day, to set a national record for a collaborative release.
The song also topped Apple Music Nigeria and ranked No. 1 on YouTube, Audiomack, and Deezer locally.
On ‘Jogodo,’ Wizkid and Asake send an affectionate message to a lover. Wizkid opens the song with a seven-line rhythmic chorus, before Asake completes the chorus with more erotic lines.
“No be for here you go jogodo/Say tonight, you go dey know, know, know/Wọn fẹ pa mi with ogogoro/No be today we dey kpo, kpo/Ọmọ, your body dey pololo (yeah).”
The song explores love assurance and desire, using heavily erotic lyrics to express affectionate emotions, sexual desires and experiences.
In his first verse, Asake describes his lover’s body and hints at intimacy, saying, “Jọwọ, ma jẹ o jabọ o (ma jẹ o jabọ o, jabọ o)/Maa wo bo ṣe n ṣakọ o, ibadi to pọn yii soco o/Mo kan fẹ jẹ ẹ, mi o labọ o.”
Wizkid, in his verse, talks about his wealth and lifestyle to show how he wants his lover to give in to him. He also uses the popular slang “Izzy” to describe how he wants to move with his lover.
“Owo wọle o, baby, jẹ ki n jẹ owo wọle o-o/Ọmọ, don dey dance, I dey feel am/Escalawizzy, I wanna dey move, I dey hold am/Say many things I been show you,” Wizkid sang.
However, ‘Jogodo’ blends smooth harmonies with solid beats and rhythm. Wizkid delivers clean, steady vocals, while Asake adds flavour with local dialects, creating a balanced, enjoyable sound. However, the track sexualizes ladies’ bodies and can not be regarded as a moral symbol.
