Nigerian sprint sensation Kayinsola Ajayi will return to Diamond League action on Sunday when he lines up in the men’s 100m at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Silesia, Poland.
The meeting represents the penultimate stop on the Road to the Final series. It comes just three days after Athletissima in Lausanne, Switzerland, as the Diamond League season enters its decisive stage.
Ajayi will face one of the strongest 100m fields of the campaign, with world champion Oblique Seville and Olympic champion Andre De Grasse among the headline names.
The field also includes Americans Christian Coleman and Kenneth Bednarek, Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake, South Africa’s Akani Simbine and several other elite sprinters.

The Nigerian will also renew his rivalry with Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion who recently finished ahead of Ajayi in Glasgow.
Ajayi heads into the Silesia meeting on the back of a remarkable breakthrough season that has firmly established him among the world’s leading young sprinters.
The 21-year-old shattered Olusoji Fasuba’s 20-year-old Nigerian 100m record of 9.85 seconds in May, clocking 9.84 seconds at the 2026 NCAA Division I East First Round in the United States.
He went on to win the NCAA outdoor 100m title and has since equalled his national record twice, while also securing two Diamond League victories during the season.
His impressive campaign continued at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he claimed bronze in the men’s 100m.
Away from competition, Ajayi also recently confirmed a major step in his career after announcing that he would forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility at Auburn University following three seasons and turn professional with sportswear giant Adidas.
“New era. I am grateful to God to finally announce that I am officially embarking on the next chapter of my journey—continuing my professional track and field career with Adidas,” Ajayi wrote on X.
The Nigerian had previously signed a Name, Image and Likeness deal with Adidas in April 2025 while competing for Auburn.

Now, with the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels scheduled for 4-5 September, Ajayi has one of his final opportunities to accumulate valuable points in the race for qualification.
With the likes of Seville, De Grasse, Coleman, Bednarek and Simbine standing in his way, Sunday’s 100m promises another stern test for the Nigerian.
For Ajayi, however, the Silesia meeting offers another opportunity to underline just how far his breakthrough season has taken him as he prepares to enter the next phase of his professional career.
