The 2025 MASA Isonyin Marathon (MIM) is getting more exciting as many of Nigeria’s top athletes are signing up to take part in the race.
The organisers have also started a strong sponsorship drive to get support from companies and groups across the country.

The race, which will take place on 23 August, is a half marathon (21 kilometres) with the theme “Running for Exposure.”
It has caught the attention of both professional and amateur runners because of the high prize money being offered.

Winners in both the male and female categories will receive N1.5 million, second-place finishers will get N1 million, and those who come third will earn N750,000.
This makes the MASA Isonyin Marathon one of the most rewarding half marathons in Nigeria.
Organisers say they expect more than 2,500 runners to take part.
Registration is ongoing online at www.masaisonyinmarathon.com and also in person at locations in Isonyin, Abeokuta, Sagamu, and Ijebu Ode.
“This is a huge opportunity — not just for the prize, but for the visibility,” said Bala Musa, a national-level athlete from Plateau State. “It’s a platform that serious athletes will not want to miss.”
Event backed by MASA Foundation
The MASA Isonyin Marathon is organised by the MASA Foundation, led by Muideen Adegboyega Salami (MASA).
The foundation aims to support young people, develop communities, and promote healthy lifestyles through events like this.
The race route has been officially approved by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).
As preparations continue, the organisers are inviting companies and private organisations to become sponsors.
They believe this will help make the event even more colourful and exciting for everyone involved.
Speaking for the MASA Foundation, Adesola Salami, Project Director, said that sponsorship isn’t only about money — it’s also about being part of something that connects people.
“We’re allowing brands to deepen their market and connect with thousands of engaged people in a celebratory setting,” she said. “Several sponsorship talks are already in motion, but we welcome more partners who share our vision.”
Community and celebrity support
Support for the marathon is growing fast, especially from the people of Isonyin and its well-wishers around the world.
One of the big supporters is Biodun Odusote, a Professor from the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, who is an Isonyin indigene.

Celebrities are also showing interest. Popular Yoruba actress and comedian Kudirat Abeniade, better known as Mama No Network, has shared her excitement and support for the event.
Also backing the race is Dupe Adetuwo, a veteran actress and Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Arts and Culture.
She joins other cultural figures in helping to promote the marathon and its goals.
