Nigeria begin their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations journey today with a Group C match against Tanzania in Fès, Morocco.
This opening game matters a lot for the Super Eagles.

After failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, AFCON has become Nigeria’s main focus and best chance to lift national spirit again.
A win tonight would ease pressure and set the team on the right path.

Nigeria come into the match as clear favourites.
This is their 21st AFCON appearance and they have won the tournament three times.
Tanzania, on the other hand, are making only their fourth appearance and are yet to record a win at the competition.
With fellow title contenders like Morocoo, Egypt and South Africa all starting on winning notes, the Super Eagles cannot afford to drop the ball in this group opener.
