The Ekiti State Government on Wednesday approved ₦7.72 billion for the reconstruction of the road network adjoining the new flyover bridge in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
It also approved N1.06 billion for the extension of electricity supply and the installation of transformers to underserved communities in the state.
A statement by the Special Adviser on Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in Ado Ekiti, disclosed that the approvals were among the decisions reached at the 12th meeting of the State Executive Council, held via Zoom.
He said the approval of the road network is aimed at ensuring free flow of traffic and enhancing socio-economic activities in and around the flyover located at the centre of the state capital, including the entire Old Garage area.

He said roads earmarked for rehabilitation in the corridor include Mathew Road to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ijigbo through Ojido to Odo Ado, Mugbagba Roads, Ojumose/Post Office via Ewi’s Palace Road and Atikankan to Baptist Church Road.
“The scope of work covers site clearing, earthworks, construction of concrete drains, pavement improvement, and asphalt overlay.
“The contract is to be executed by Messrs Step Development Limited, the current contractor handling the flyover project, having demonstrated both the technical capacity and financial strength required to deliver seamless and integrated construction around the corridor.
On the N1.06 billion for the extension of electricity and installation of transformers to the underserved communities in the state, Mr Olatunbosun said it is in furtherance of the Oyebanji administration’s drive to enhance electricity access across the State.
“It is also part of interventions of the state government to address challenges of electric power supply to the underserved and unserved communities in the state, with the focus of enhancing economic productivity and public safety in alignment with applicable Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
According to the special adviser, the underserved communities included Ise Ekiti and Orun Ekiti, with a budget of ₦113 million; Fiwasaye, Abe Koko axis, and Onala Communities, off Afao Road, Ado Ekiti, with a budget of ₦136.7 million; and Oke-Ureje and Itamo communities, Ado Ekiti, with a budget of ₦ 4,502,259.65.
Others include Agelusi Crescent, Judges Quarters, off NTA Road, at ₦ 69.5 million, Technology Incubation Centre, Old Technical College, Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti, with ₦62.8 million, Iwaro, off Afao Road, Ayo Fasanmi Area, at Ilokun, Ado Ekiti (2 units of transformers) at ₦153 million.
Marina and Fabian communities, Ado Ekiti, with the sum of ₦127.4 million, Irona Tuntun community in Omisanjana, Ado Ekiti, awarded ₦104 million, Connection of Okemesi Ekiti to Ijebu-Jesha feeder with the sum of ₦160 million and Temidire community in Oketoro Quarters, Iyin Ekiti -₦72 million are also included.
