An incident report by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the accident to suspected brake failure, which reportedly caused the truck driver to lose control while travelling from Gombe towards Yola.

The truck subsequently collided with the two cars and five motorcycles, bringing the total number of vehicles involved to eight.

According to the report, the deceased comprised four adult men, two boys and a girl.

The 11 injured victims included four adult men, three adult women and four girls. They reportedly suffered various injuries, including severe fractures, cuts and bruises.

Although the FRSC recorded 25 people as being involved in the accident, the report did not provide details about the condition of the remaining seven individuals.

The agency said its personnel received an emergency call at 5:32 p.m. and reached the scene two minutes later.

The injured victims were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Kumo for medical attention, while 11 people reportedly received first aid.

The vehicles involved in the crash were subsequently handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Kumo for further investigation and necessary action.

The identities of the deceased and the latest medical conditions of the injured victims were not immediately known.

The suspected mechanical failure that triggered the crash highlights the dangers faulty vehicles pose to motorists, motorcyclists and other road users.
