Governor Uba Sani has been commended by both Christian and Muslim clerics for keeping the promises he made to families affected by insecurity in Kaduna State.
The commendation came from the Archbishop of Kaduna Province, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Most Reverend Timothy Yahaya, and the Northern Coordinator of the Global Peace Foundation, Sheikh Haliru Maraya, after the governor handed over houses to Mrs Sarah Achi and Malam Usman Aliyu.

The beneficiaries lost their spouses in separate tragic incidents. Edwin Achi, an Anglican Venerable priest was killed after being abducted, while Malama Ummulkhairi Aliyu, an Islamic teacher, was lynched by a mob in Maraban Jos in June.
Following the incidents, Governor Uba Sani visited the bereaved families and pledged to provide each with a house. He also promised to sponsor the education and welfare of Ummulkhairi’s four children.

The governor fulfilled the promises on Monday when the title documents for the houses were presented to Mrs Achi and Malam Usman during a brief ceremony at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.
Speaking at the event, Archbishop Yahaya said the governor had demonstrated that true leadership is measured by keeping one’s word.
“It is one thing for leaders in our clime to make promises and another thing entirely to fulfil them. Governor Uba Sani has shown that whenever he makes a promise, he keeps it,” he said.
He thanked the governor for bringing hope to the affected families and prayed for lasting peace in Kaduna State.
“As you have put smiles on the faces of these families, may God continue to bless your administration. We pray that this kind of tragedy will never happen again and that your efforts towards peace and unity will become a lasting legacy,” he added.
Also speaking, Sheikh Maraya recalled that Governor Uba Sani visited Ummulkhairi’s family shortly after his death, donated ₦10 million to support them, and pledged to continue funding the education of her four children.
He said the governor also directed officials to enrol the children in quality schools and fulfilled his promise of providing the family with a befitting three-bedroom bungalow.
“We thank you immensely for ensuring that your words are always matched by your actions,” Sheikh Maraya said.
Describing the governor as compassionate, he added: “Since assuming office, you have become a fountain of mercy to the people of Kaduna State. May Almighty Allah continue to reward and elevate you.”
In his remarks, Governor Uba Sani said supporting families affected by insecurity has remained a key policy of his administration.
He recalled that his government handed over 50 houses to families of victims of banditry last year and pledged to sustain the initiative.
“As a government, we will never abandon families who have suffered from insecurity. We will continue to stand by them,” the governor said.
He also expressed delight that Mrs Achi had recovered after spending several months receiving medical treatment following the attack.
