The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has refunded over N31 million to the 930 pilgrims who performed the 2025 Hajj, following a discount granted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the price of animals for sacrifice.
The Director-General of the Board, Ahmed Umar Labbo, disclosed this on Thursday when the Amirul Hajj and Emir of Kazaure, Najib Hussaini Adamu, presented the official 2025 Hajj report to Governor Umar Namadi in Dutse.
According to him, direct negotiations between the Board and Hadaya Company—the Saudi firm in charge of animal sacrifice—led to the discount. Each pilgrim who paid for the animal sacrifice through the Board will now receive a refund of N42,996.
The Amirul Hajj further announced the return of more than N24 million to the state government treasury, representing unspent operational funds from the exercise. He attributed the success of the Hajj operations to transparency, accountability, and prudent management of resources.

Mr Adamu commended Governor Namadi and the Board for their commitment to the welfare of pilgrims, citing improvements in feeding, accommodation, medical care, and the new system of allocating accommodations before pilgrims’ arrival in Makkah, which eased common logistical challenges.
He also noted that the 2025 exercise recorded no cases of abscondment or childbirth, while pilgrims appreciated the governor’s Sallah gift of 100 Saudi Riyals each.
In his response, Governor Namadi lauded the Amirul Hajj and the Pilgrims Board for their dedication, transparency, and concern for the wellbeing of Jigawa pilgrims in both Makkah and Madinah.
The Director-General, Mr Labbo attributed the successes recorded to the governor’s unwavering support, praying for Allah’s continued guidance for him in leading the state.
