President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to the family and colleagues of veteran journalist and publisher of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, who died on Tuesday at 56.
President Tinubu, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described Mr Oladipo’s death as a loss to Nigeria’s media industry and the country.

Mr Oladipo, a former Political Editor at PUNCH Newspapers, died suddenly on Tuesday.
The Eagle Online publisher had a journalism career spanning nearly three decades and worked with several Nigerian newspapers before establishing the online publication.

President Tinubu said Mr Oladipo made significant contributions to journalism, particularly political reporting and digital publishing.
The president said the deceased’s career demonstrated the role of journalists in strengthening democracy by keeping citizens informed, holding public officials accountable and creating platforms for public debate.
He also acknowledged Mr Oladipo’s contributions to the growth of digital journalism through The Eagle Online, which he founded after his career at PUNCH.
“Dotun Oladipo’s death at the age of 56 is a painful loss to the Nigerian media community and to our nation.

“He was a committed journalist who devoted significant years of his life to informing the public and contributing to the development of our democracy,” Mr Tinubu said.
The president added that Mr Oladipo’s contributions to political journalism and the digital media industry would not be forgotten.
President Tinubu extended his condolences to Mr Oladipo’s family, colleagues in the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) and friends.
“I pray that Almighty God will grant him eternal rest and give his loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.
