The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, arrived in Osogbo, the state capital, on Thursday, with heavy security convoys and party supporters, ahead of Saturday’s election.
Mr Oyebamiji’s arrival witnessed by PREMIUM TIMES at the Aregbe area of Osogbo came as the APC prepared to hold its final campaign rally in the state on Thursday, in a last push for candidate’s support ahead of Saturday’s poll.

The candidate was welcomed by supporters who gathered along the route to welcome him into the state capital.
Mr Oyebamiji’s arrival came less than 48 hours before Osun residents head to the polls to elect their next governor, who will oversee the state for the next four years.

The APC has mobilised its national leadership and governors for the final campaign, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and other party leaders expected in Osogbo for the mega rally.
The final campaign is expected to provide the APC and its candidate with their last major opportunity to address supporters and make their case to voters before the campaign period closes.
Mr Oyebamiji, a former Osun Commissioner for Finance and current Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, is seeking to unseat the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, who is also seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

The election has increasingly narrowed into a contest involving the major candidates, with both the APC and the incumbent’s camp stepping up their final mobilisation efforts across the state.
Ahead of Saturday’s election, parties’ final rally will come against the backdrop of heightened security concerns surrounding the election, following a series of violent incidents reported in parts of Osun State during the election season.
Security agencies have repeatedly urged political parties and their supporters to avoid violence and allow voters to participate freely in Saturday’s election.
