A fire at Afriland Tower on Broad Street, Lagos Island, sent workers scrambling for survival on Tuesday as smoke swept through the six-storey building.
Videos posted online by bystanders showed trapped occupants smashing windows for air and evacuation.
Some leapt onto foamy materials spread below, while others clung to ledges until ladders were raised for their escape.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said the fire began in the building’s basement inverter room before smoke spread across several floors.
