The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says it will deploy a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to facilitate the processing and issuance of passports to Nigerians in the country.
In a statement on Sunday, which was tweeted on the NIS’s official X page, the intervention was directed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and is scheduled to commence on 10 August 2026.

“As part of ongoing efforts to further ease and streamline passport applications for Nigerians in the diaspora, the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, to deploy a dedicated Passport Intervention Team from the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters to the United Kingdom,” the statement said.
The service said the team would work with the Nigerian High Commission in the UK to process pending, new, and renewal passport applications.

The NIS also said the team would visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, enabling eligible applicants living in different parts of the country to access the exercise without necessarily travelling to a central location.
The intervention is open to applicants with pending passport applications, first-time applicants and holders of passports with less than one year remaining before expiry who wish to apply for renewal.
The immigration service advised applicants to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.
Schedule
The NIS said the detailed schedule for the exercise, including the cities to be visited, dates, venues, and enrolment times, would be announced separately.
It advised applicants not to proceed to any location until the relevant schedule has been officially communicated.
The service also urged Nigerians in the UK to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for further details.

The NIS clarified that all its digital passport application channels will remain operational throughout the intervention.
It said the Contactless Passport Application System would also continue to function, while the home-delivery service would remain available to applicants.
The service said the intervention was part of ongoing efforts to ease and streamline passport applications for Nigerians in the diaspora.
