The Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Dennis Guwor, has urged lawmakers to be united and committed to advancing good governance as the House commenced its Fourth Session.
Speaking during Tuesday’s plenary, Mr Guwor said members must remain focused on their constitutional responsibilities and continue to meet the expectations of the people.

The speaker expressed gratitude to God for preserving the lives of lawmakers throughout the legislative recess and granting them safe return to legislative duties.
He noted that the new session presents another opportunity for the assembly to strengthen its contributions to peace, development and prosperity of Delta.

“As we begin this Fourth Session, I urge all Honourable Members to remain steadfast, focused, and dedicated to the discharge of our constitutional duties.
“The expectations of our people remain high, and it is our collective responsibility to continue enacting laws and undertaking legislative actions that will promote peace, prosperity, and good governance across Delta,” he said.
Mr Guwor said the assembly must build on its achievements and pursue initiatives that would directly improve the welfare of residents across the state.
According to him, stronger cooperation among the legislature, executive and judiciary remains essential to delivering meaningful development.
“The Fourth Session presents another opportunity for us to consolidate on our achievements, strengthen our partnership with other arms of government, and pursue legislative initiatives that will positively impact the lives of our people,” he said.
The speaker expressed confidence that the unity and cooperation that had characterised the House would continue to yield positive legislative outcomes.
He said members’ commitment over the years had contributed significantly to the assembly’s successes and should be sustained throughout the session.
Mr Guwor welcomed lawmakers back from recess and wished them a productive, peaceful and successful Fourth Session.
He acknowledged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his wife for attending the assembly’s third anniversary thanksgiving service, and described their presence as a demonstration of support for the legislature and its role in governance.

The speaker further appreciated former governors, senior government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, security chiefs and other dignitaries who attended the event.
According to him, the thanksgiving service provided lawmakers an opportunity to reflect on the assembly’s achievements over the past three years.
He said the occasion also renewed members’ commitment to quality legislation, effective oversight and purposeful representation.
