The police in Akwa Ibom State, South-south Nigeria, are investigating the death of a woman whose corpse was found in a gutter along a street in Uyo.
The police spokesperson in the state, Timfon John, told PREMIUM TIMES, Thursday, that operatives evacuated the corpse and deposited it at the mortuary.

“When a search was conducted on the deceased, a National Identity Number bearing the name Goodness Edem Israel was found on her,” Ms John, a deputy superintendent of police, said.
“No arrest has been made,” she added.

Residents of Udok Street in Uyo woke up Thursday morning to see the corpse of a young woman inside the gutter in the street.
At least four residents of the area told PREMIUM TIMES they did not know who she was.
“She must have been murdered somewhere, and then her dead body brought and dumped here because nobody knows her. She does not live around here,” a resident of the area, who preferred to be anonymous, said.

The pictures of the woman’s corpse has gone viral on Facebook. The corpse shows no visible sign of injury.

She was dressed in a black skin-tight short and a black T-shirt that covered only the upper part of her body, leaving her stomach uncovered.
A Facebook user posted a selfie video of the late Goodness, beaming with smiles. The video was shot along a major road in Uyo, and she wore the same black skin-tight short and black T-shirt. It is not clear when she made the video.
“The late Goodness Israel is said to be a single mother of two from Mbiabong Etoi,” a Facebook user, Imoh Etimudo, wrote in another post, with a picture of two male children sitting on the deceased woman’s laps.
