One day after the US attacked three nuclear sites in Iran, officially involving itself in the Israel-Iran war, Tehran has vowed to punish its ‘Zionist enemy.’
In his first official statement since the attack, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, on Monday described the attack as a mistake and a “big crime.”

“The Zionist enemy has made a big mistake, committed a big crime; it must be punished and it is being punished; it is being punished right now,” he said.
On the tenth day into Israel’s war with Iran, US President Donald Trump announced a “very successful attack” targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.

PREMIUM TIMES reported that Mr Trump, after announcing the strikes on Iran, on Sunday, called for peace.
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan,” he wrote. “NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
Israel, on the other hand, praised Mr Trump’s decision to bomb three nuclear sites in Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the action as “bold, righteous and historic.”
The war began on 13 June after Israel launched air strikes on Iran. The attacks led to retaliation and further attacks, causing the death of hundreds of people in Iran and dozens of people in Israel.
Although the US initially distanced itself from the attacks on Iran, President Trump later disclosed that the US was likely to get involved.
Trump suggests regime change
Meanwhile, Mr Trump has hinted that the US may pursue regime change in Iran.
The US President, in a post on Truth Social, questioned why there shouldn’t be a regime change if the Ayatollah government has failed to serve the people.
“It’s not politically correct to use the term, “Regime Change,” but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA!!!” he said.
However, Israel and Iran continue to exchange attacks as global tensions rise over the US bombings, with President Masoud Pezeshkian stating, “the Americans must receive a response to their aggression.”
In both Israel and Iran, casualties have continued to rise. Hours after the US attack, Iran launched a wave of missiles into north and central Israel, leaving at least 86 people injured.
While Iran has reported that more than 400 people have been killed and over 3,056 others injured. In Israel, at least 27 people have been killed since 13 June and hundreds injured. Several military and civilian properties have also been destroyed in both countries.
