The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has retracted a public alert concerning Deleject Disposable Needles, assuring healthcare providers, distributors and the public that the products available on the market are safe for use.
The agency said Public Alert No. 042/2026, which reported the presence of whitish particulate matter in Deleject Disposable Needle Batch No. 240605, was uploaded to its website in error.

In a statement signed by Bitrus Fraden, NAFDAC’s Director of Post Marketing Surveillance, the agency said its investigation of the manufacturer, HMA, found no non-conformity with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
NAFDAC said Pharm lodged the complaint that led to the alert. Jiyah Dadi, whose pharmacy is located at No. 1, Aliyu Turaki, Off Isa Kaita Road, Malali, Kaduna.

According to the agency, the Deleject syringes involved in the complaint had been purchased from Zagbayi Pharmacy, located on Calabar Road, Off Kano Road, Kaduna.
Investigation found no manufacturing defect
NAFDAC said the investigation did not establish any manufacturing defect, adding that the reported issue could instead have been linked to a supply chain challenge.
The agency said the matter had already undergone regulatory review and investigation and was satisfactorily resolved several months ago.
“There are currently no quality, safety, or regulatory issues that necessitate publication of the alert regarding Deleject Disposable Needle products available on the market,” the statement read.
It added that the products currently in distribution had met applicable quality requirements and regulatory expectations for use.
NAFDAC also found no evidence indicating any quality or safety risk to healthcare providers, patients, distributors or members of the public.
The regulator urged healthcare providers, distributors and other stakeholders to disregard the publication and reassured them of the quality and safety of Deleject Disposable Needles.
“The publication is regretted and should be ignored.”
The agency’s clarification effectively withdraws the earlier alert and confirms that Deleject Disposable Needle products currently in distribution remain acceptable for use.

Backstory
NAFDAC had earlier issued a public alert over the reported presence of whitish particulate matter on Deleject Disposable Needles, Batch No. 240605.
The agency said it received a consumer complaint about white particles on disposable needles, prompting an investigation.
According to the alert, samples of the affected product were submitted for laboratory analysis to determine the cause of the whitish particulate matter.
