Produced under the Funke Akindele Network, the film stars Funke Akindele alongside Omowunmi Dada, Bisola Aiyeola, Blossom Chukwujekwu and Nosa Rex (Baba Rex). It premiered on Prime Video on 15 August 2026.

Plot
Bomi is a successful event planner and the CEO of Big Surprises, but despite her thriving career, one thing is missing from her life: marriage.
Unlike her two married sisters, Bomi is still single and desperately wants to find her own Mr Right. She admires happy couples, follows marriage counsellors, attends programmes at church, and even dresses as though she is already preparing for her wedding, hoping her miracle will come sooner.
Every morning, Bomi watches a seemingly perfect couple, Bridget and Temi, jog together around her estate. Their loving relationship becomes the picture of the marriage she dreams of having.

When Bomi becomes friends with Bridget, she unexpectedly meets Bridget’s younger brother, who develops an interest in her. Just when Bomi believes her long-awaited love story may finally be falling into place, her happiness is shattered when she becomes entangled in a shocking murder case.
What begins as a desperate search for love soon turns into a journey filled with secrets, unexpected twists, and big surprises that force Bomi to question everything and everyone around her.
Review
Where Is Mr Right? struggles not to be constrained by the typical Nollywood romance format, introducing intriguing twists, including suspense, crime-thriller elements, and irony.
For instance, following Temi’s death, the movie offers the audience a departure from the Rom-com narrative it had earlier set, giving them a run for their time and moving away from the straightforward search-for-love narrative.
For some audiences, the unpredictability gives the final stretch energy. For others, the transition can feel abrupt, particularly because the film spends considerable time establishing itself as a relatively familiar relationship comedy.
The problem is not necessarily the presence of a twist. Rather, it is how completely the film prepares the audience for the change in narrative. A stronger screenplay would have planted more clues earlier, allowing the eventual developments to feel inevitable in retrospect rather than simply unexpected.
Still, the willingness to take that risk deserves some credit. In a genre where audiences can often predict the destination long before the characters arrive there, unpredictability is valuable. Perhaps the most appealing thing about Where Is Mr Right? It does not present love as a perfectly organised formula.
What makes the movie relatable is the pressure to marry, the expectations surrounding social status, religious beliefs, family intervention, and the influence of social media. All these searches for a partner are considerably more complicated than the romantic-comedy cliché of simply “finding love”.

A film such as Where Is Mr Right? does not have to depend entirely on a long theatrical run to find an audience. Its accessibility to streaming subscribers also means that viewers can encounter it as a weekend watch, a date-night movie or simply a light piece of entertainment.
Where Is Mr Right is an enjoyable but imperfect romantic comedy that understands its audience better than it challenges it. However, the film is less convincing when it attempts to move beyond entertainment into deeper crime thrillers and the complexities of modern relationships.
For viewers looking for a light Nigerian romantic comedy with familiar faces, relationship drama and a few unexpected turns, the film is a reasonable streaming choice.
