Content creator and streamer Carter Efe is set to face rapper and social media personality Speed Darlington in a celebrity boxing bout scheduled for 1 October , at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
The fight, billed as “Chaos in the Ring”, was officially announced by Balmoral Promotions on Sunday. It will be held on Nigeria’s Independence Day and streamed live on DAZN.

The promoters announced the bout on Instagram, declaring: “IT’S OFFICIAL! CARTER VS SPEED. Two African stars. One ring. No excuses. On October 1, the ring decides who stands tall. Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. Live on @daznboxing. This isn’t just a fight. It is CHAOS!”
The contest will be the first boxing meeting between Efe and Speed Darlington, but both entertainers have previously featured in Nigeria’s growing celebrity boxing circuit.

Enter Carter Efe
Efe enters the bout as one of the biggest names in the current celebrity boxing scene after defeating singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus by unanimous decision in May.
The victory came at Chaos in the Ring 4, also held at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Efe produced a disciplined performance across the three-round contest, using movement, uppercuts, body shots and cleaner combinations to neutralise Portable’s aggressive approach.

All three judges scored the fight in Efe’s favour, handing him a 30-27 victory on their scorecards.
Businessman Emeka “E-Money” Okonkwo subsequently fulfilled a ₦50 million pledge to Efe following his victory.
Efe’s win ended Portable’s unbeaten run in the celebrity boxing circuit, having previously defeated actor Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.
Speed Darlington’s redemption move
Speed Darlington will be looking to revive his fortunes when he steps into the ring against Efe.
The rapper previously faced Portable in a celebrity boxing bout in 2025, with Portable winning by technical knockout after Darlington failed to continue into the second round.
The contest followed a public disagreement between the two entertainers. Darlington had reportedly offered Portable ₦500,000 to perform at an event, but Portable rejected the offer, leading to an increasingly heated exchange between them.
Their verbal confrontation eventually spilt into the boxing ring, where Portable dominated the opening round before Darlington was unable to continue.
Darlington later attributed his defeat to supernatural forces, claiming that “juju” or charms were involved.
Previous challenge
Darlington’s upcoming fight against Efe also follows a challenge he issued after Efe defeated Portable.
Following Efe’s victory in May, Darlington publicly mocked Portable over the result and pointed to his own previous fight against the singer.
He subsequently called out Efe for a bout, presenting himself as a different challenge from Portable and expressing confidence that he could defeat the content creator.
That challenge has now become a reality, with Efe and Darlington set to settle their rivalry inside the ring.
Evolving celebrity boxing scene
The fight is the latest high-profile contest to emerge from Nigeria’s increasingly popular celebrity boxing circuit, where personal rivalries, social media exchanges and entertainment have become major parts of the promotion.
Balmoral Promotions has staged several editions of the Chaos in the Ring series, combining celebrity boxing attractions with professional bouts.

The events have also featured prominent entertainers whose existing public disputes have provided much of the drama surrounding their fights.
Portable’s rivalry with Charles Okocha, for instance, previously produced a high-profile celebrity boxing contest, followed by a controversial rematch.
The 1 October contest will take place at the Federal Palace Hotel, Balmoral Convention Centre/Hall, Victoria Island, Lagos.
However, the promoters have yet to publicly announce full details of the undercard, weight classes, number of rounds, purse arrangements or the exact start time.
PREMIUM TIMES reported in July that the celebrity boxing scene recorded another high-profile clash when Okocha defeated Portable in their rematch. The bout, held under the “Chaos in the Ring” banner, ended after Portable abandoned the ring following a chaotic opening round, resulting in Okocha being declared the winner.
The rematch came after Portable had defeated Okocha in their first encounter in December 2023. Their rivalry was reportedly fuelled by a dispute over an alleged ₦40 million business deal, adding to the personal drama that has become a defining feature of Nigeria’s celebrity boxing circuit.
