The Nwoko family of Idumuje-Ugboko, as stated by Chuks Nwoko, the man in a viral video on social media ‘dragging’ Senator Ned Nwoko (APC-Delta), has no genealogical or ancestral ties to the family.
The family, in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, described as baseless the claims made by Chuks.

Mr Chuks, who claimed to be the lawmaker’s brother, had taken to social media to publicly call out the senator amid the ongoing tension between him and his wife, Regina Daniels.
In the viral video, Chuks alleged that he had been unable to reach his brother for years, as he had consistently ignored his calls.

According to him, the only way he could pass his message across was through Facebook, where he accused the lawmaker who represents Delta North Senatorial District of bringing “too much disrepute” to the Nwoko family name.
Chuks, who claimed to be the senator’s brother, made headlines last week after posting a viral video in which he accused Ned Nwoko of abandoning his family and betraying those who once supported him. In the video, he alleged that he had been unable to reach the lawmaker for years, claiming that Ned had consistently ignored his calls. He further criticised the senator’s attitude, accusing him of hypocrisy for flaunting his law degree online while forgetting his humble beginnings.
He also claimed that a man named Nnwonye had sponsored the senator’s education in the United Kingdom, insisting that the senator’s first act of betrayal was against their elder brother. He also accused him of marrying underage girls, refusing to pay Regina’s bride price to her father, and even changing his original name from Chinedu to Ned. Chuks concluded by warning the lawmaker to stop bringing shame to the Nwoko family.
Falsehood peddler
However, the Nwoko family said that the said man was peddling falsehood.
Michael Nwoko, Cousin and Chief of Staff of Senator Nwoko, for clarity, said ‘Chuks is not and has never been a member of the Nwoko royal family. His father hails from the western part of Nigeria, and by every known standard of lineage, tradition, and descent, he has no genealogical or ancestral tie to Idumuje-Ugboko.
He said: “It is therefore audacious, even laughable, for him to assume a voice or claim any authority on matters concerning the Nwoko household. His malicious video reveals either a profound ignorance of the truth or an alignment with external forces that are desperate to malign a man whose record of service to his people and nation remains unblemished.
“It is the classic case of someone seeking cheap relevance by throwing stones at a name far greater than his imagination can comprehend. In recent days, Chucks has taken to social media to peddle falsehoods and spew unwarranted commentary about the Nwoko royal family of Idumuje-Ugboko and, in particular, Sen. Ned Nwoko. His ill-informed remarks are not only mischievous but also a brazen attempt to drag the name of a noble family into needless controversy,” he added.
Illustrious son
The chief of staff to the lawmaker emphasised that Mr Nwoko remained one of Delta’s most illustrious sons, a man whose legacy of service extended beyond politics and whose influence had touched lives far beyond his constituency.
His contributions to the progress of Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta North, and the state of Delta in general are monumental.
“He has transformed goodwill into tangible action, from scholarship programmes and community infrastructure to youth empowerment and sports development.
“In the 10th Senate, Ned Nwoko has remained one of the most consistent voices for meaningful change. He has sponsored over 34 bills and moved several motions tackling issues that matter. His approach to public service is deliberate and deeply rooted in purpose. He is focused, visionary, and guided by an unflinching belief in public service as a moral duty, not a stage for theatrics. It bears emphasising that such baseless distractions neither diminish his credibility nor deter his resolve,” he said.
He stressed that those who trade in falsehood would always find themselves stranded in the wilderness of irrelevance, while men of purpose would continue to write their names in the annals of national progress.

“The Nwoko family, therefore, distances itself entirely from the reckless utterances of Mr Chucks Nwoko. He speaks only for himself, and perhaps for those who feed his delusions, but certainly not for the Nwoko dynasty or the people of Idumuje-Ugboko. Sen. Nwoko is not a man easily swayed by noise or distracted by mischief. His life’s work speaks for itself, visible in the schools he has built, the bills he has sponsored, the opportunities he has created, and the countless lives he has quietly changed.
“He remains steady, focused, and driven by conviction rather than clamour.
In the end, those who trade in gossip will fade with the wind, but those who build, as the senator continues to do, will always have their legacy rooted in the lives they’ve touched,” the chief of staff further added.
