The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday approved the 2026 Budget Reordering Bill, adjusting the allocation of the state’s N4.445 trillion budget.
The bill was passed after lawmakers considered and adopted the report of the House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, TVC reported.

Presenting the report, the committee chairman, Olumoh Sa’ad, said the review followed differences in the implementation of capital projects by ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
He stated that some MDAs had recorded higher implementation of their capital allocations, while others had spent less than what was provided for their projects.

The committee explained that the state’s overall budget performance stood at 69 per cent as of 30 June.
It put recurrent revenue performance at 79 per cent, while recurrent and capital expenditure stood at 73 per cent and 66 per cent respectively.
Under the reordered budget, N2.077 trillion will be spent on recurrent expenditure, while N2.368 trillion is allocated to capital projects.

The areas covered include transportation infrastructure, hospital projects, housing, environmental sanitation and waste management, security and emergency equipment.
After the debate, the lawmakers adopted the committee’s recommendations and passed the bill following a vote by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
Mr Obasa directed the Clerk to communicate the resolutions of the House to the relevant authorities.
The assembly later adjourned plenary to 2 November.

Background
The assembly approved Lagos’ 2026 budget in January at N4.444 trillion, after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented a N4.237 trillion proposal to the lawmakers in November 2025.
The governor described the proposal as the “Budget of Shared Prosperity” and said it was intended to improve infrastructure, support economic growth and improve residents’ welfare.
The budget approved in January provided N2.107 trillion for recurrent expenditure and N2.338 trillion for capital projects.
Governor Sanwo-Olu later signed the appropriation bill into law.
The latest review came after the Assembly examined the implementation of the budget by the state’s MDAs during the year.
