David’s Christian Centre (DCC) founder and lead pastor, Kingsley Okonkwo, has come under fire after launching “Mentor To Marry (MTM)”, a Christian matchmaking platform with a ₦700,000 package for high-profile singles seeking potential partners.
Mr Okonkwo, a relationship and marriage expert, announced the platform’s launch on his X page on Tuesday, saying he sympathised with men of his generation over what he described as the commercialisation of relationships.

He said the commercialisation of relationships among women had made it almost impossible for young men to find true love, adding that he launched the platform to help address the situation.
The pastor wrote: “When we were young, all you had to get was a girl’s phone number, but now all they want to send is their account number. Now you are expected to pay rent, school fees and transport before you are taken seriously.

“If you are a guy and feel relationships are out of your reach because you are not rich or you just want to meet godly, well-mentored ladies from all over the world, then you have to join.”
Mr Okonkwo urged single men to join the platform, assuring them that not every woman approaches relationships with a business mindset.
According to him, the platform seeks to connect serious, godly and well-mentored singles from across the world.

MTM packages
PREMIUM TIMES reviewed MTM’s platform, including its terms, conditions and membership requirements, and found that the matchmaking service charges prospective members for access.
The platform lists three membership tiers, with the regular plan costing N70,000 annually. The package provides eight weeks of mentoring classes, assessments, surveys, limited profile access, an accountability system and five weekly chats.
The premium plan costs ₦350,000 a year. It offers all the regular package benefits, in addition to unlimited profile browsing, monthly profile recommendations, priority access to coaches, global profiles, 10 weekly chats and private groups.
The VIP package, which costs ₦700,000 annually, includes a dedicated matchmaker and coach, priority access to the platform’s founders, 15 weekly chats, off-platform introductions and profile protection.
According to the platform, it uses membership fees, subscriptions, course fees and other payments to fund its operations, development, administration and sustainability, as well as related ministry activities.
The platform further stated that it can process payments in multiple currencies through third-party payment providers. It also states that members will bear any bank, currency conversion, card issuer or payment provider charges imposed by their financial institutions.
The platform reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or cancel access to paid services when payments fail, when members cancel, reverse, dispute, or fail to renew their subscriptions. It also offers teachings on faith, relationships, maturity, and marriage readiness, along with guidance and resources to help members prepare for marriage.
MTM guidelines
According to MTM, members must complete an eight-week mentoring programme that includes classes, assessments, and guided reflection before the platform makes recommendations and introductions.
Founded on Christian beliefs and values, MTM serves Christians seeking Christ-centred relationships and marriage. Its teaching, community standards, and matching framework align with its Statement of Faith and Platform Values & Community Principles.
The platform requires users to respect MT’s Christian identity, beliefs, values and marriage-focused purpose. To create an account and use MTM, individuals must be at least 25 years old, identify as Christians, and agree to respect the statement of faith.
Members must also comply with its terms of use and community guidelines, provide accurate registration and profile information, and use the platform honestly, respectfully and in good faith. MTM may reject a registration, suspend access or terminate an account if it reasonably believes that a user does not meet its eligibility requirements.
The platform does not offer counselling, psychotherapy, mental health treatment, legal, financial or medical advice, professional relationship therapy or guaranteed relationship outcomes.

Users remain responsible for their personal decisions, relationships, conduct and well-being. Where profile features apply, members may need to provide information such as their first name, age, sex at birth, marital status, country, city, church or regular place of Christian fellowship, profession, profile photograph and personal introduction or “about me” details, alongside any other information the platform requires or permits.
Members must ensure that their profile information remains truthful, accurate, respectful and not misleading. MTM may remove or restrict profile content, or ask users to amend it, if it breaches the platform’s policies.

Members who use MTM’s matching services must accurately disclose their marital status. The platform recognises three categories: never married, divorced or widowed. Members must not use the matching service if they are already married or if they provide false information about their relationship status.
MTM may suspend or terminate accounts, or permanently remove users from the platform, for misrepresenting their marital status.

The unveiling of the platform’s categories and their price tags has prompted netizens to question whether it is affordable for Christian singles seeking marriage partners.
