‘Jude caused our family’s problems’ — P-Square’s elder brother Henry alleges

The long-running feud involving P-Square singers Peter and Paul Okoye and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, has taken another turn, with another member of the Okoye family publicly weighing in on the dispute.

Henry Okoye, who identified himself as the brother directly older than Jude and senior to Peter and Paul, has accused Jude of contributing to the family’s divisions and urged him to take responsibility for reconciling the estranged twins.

Henry’s intervention comes amid a fresh round of accusations between the brothers after Peter, popularly known as Mr P, began releasing a series of videos detailing his version of P-Square’s history, financial dealings and the circumstances surrounding the group’s repeated break-ups.

Peter and Paul formed P-Square and rose to become one of Africa’s biggest music groups before splitting in 2017. They reconciled in 2021 but separated again in 2024 following renewed disagreements over the group’s finances and management. The dispute subsequently led to an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation and an ongoing court case involving Jude, who has denied wrongdoing.

Jude has also publicly responded to Peter’s recent allegations, disputing claims of financial impropriety and accusing his younger brother of manipulating the narrative surrounding P-Square’s finances and family disagreements.

Henry, however, said his decision to speak was significant because he had never addressed the family’s problems publicly before. He said during his interview on “Nolly Serve,” posted on YouTube on Friday, that he had watched parts one to seven of Peter’s video series. Still, he stressed that he could not verify allegations about incidents he did not personally witness.

He said, “When Paul and Peter started running away from the family, we never knew that it was Jude causing the problem. Jude is not a good person. He’s my brother, but he’s very bad. I’m telling you the truth: Jude is very bad. I’m just telling the truth, he’s very bad. He’s not a nice person. Let me tell you, for almost a year to two years now, I haven’t talked to Jude, and he hasn’t talked to me. Even when I was sick in the hospital last year— I was admitted for two months, Jude knew.

“Peter used to call me. Paul used to call me. Jude never called me, not once. Jude doesn’t care about anybody. Look at my sister, she’s in Lagos, and she’s suffering there. Our last-born is also in Lagos, but nobody cares about her. Jude doesn’t care. I said nobody cares about her. Peter is trying, at least. But especially Jude, let me set Paul aside for now, because I don’t know if Jude used some voodoo on Paul. I don’t know; I can’t tell. If you come into the Okoye family, in our family, Paul is the nicest person.”

On set

Furthermore, Henry maintained that Jude was nowhere to be found when everything started.

According to him, he sacrificed his time, energy and resources for P-Square in its early days, serving as their bodyguard, among other roles.

“When they started this music, they were looking for sponsors. We couldn’t get one, so I started sponsoring them. Jude was not there at that time. Even when Baseline Ages came to Jos looking for artists, I took them to the stadium for the performance. They came first. We travelled from state to state for music. At one point, they even used my car to distribute flyers.

“When we travelled to Abuja, my sister, the one they call Lillian, was always the one collecting the gate fee. I served as a bodyguard for them, along with some of my friends. After everything was set up, before they started making real money, Jude suddenly came in, wanting to manage them”, he said.

According to Henry, their mother opposed Jude managing P-Square, as she was already aware of his character.

“My mother disagreed. It was our senior brother in P-Square who begged my mother to allow Jude to manage them. My mother said she knew the kind of person Jude was; she knew his character well.”

20 percent

Moreover, Henry revealed that before P-Square became known, there was an agreement that they would pay him a percentage of each song’s earnings as their sponsor.

Henry noted, “Before they started all this, they promised me 20 per cent of each song’s earnings. Nobody ever gave me that. After three or four years, I asked them about it, and I never received anything. I told them I hadn’t seen any of the 20 per cent they promised. Jude eventually cut in and said, “What do you mean, 20 per cent — for what?” He said something like: they’re the ones flying to different countries, and if their plane ever crashed, I’d just be sitting comfortably at home.

“When he said it, I responded, “Jude, were you there when we started this?” But he came in and tried to push everyone else away, and unfortunately, he succeeded. Tony is one of their dancers; he’s also P-Square’s senior brother, one of my own brothers, Tony Okoye. He’s in Lagos, but nobody hears from him, nobody at all. This is the first time I’m speaking out, the first time, ever, on social media, even though we share the same father and mother.”
