The House of Representatives has formally sworn in Folajimi Oyekunle (PDP, Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Oyo State) as a new member of the Green Chamber.
The ceremony, which took place during Tuesday’s plenary, was presided over by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, who administered the oath of office and allegiance.

Mr Oyekunle fills the seat left vacant by the passing of Olaide Akinremi.
His induction brings closure to one of the outstanding vacancies arising from the outcome of the by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on 16 August.

Last week, the House swore in four victorious candidates from the 16 August by-elections to fill other vacant seats.
They are: Omosede Igbinedion (APC, Ovia Federal Constituency, Edo State), who replaced Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa; Muktar Rabiu (APC, Garki/Babura Federal Constituency, Jigawa State), who replaced Isa Dogonyaro; Joseph Bagudu (APC, Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State), who replaced Ekene Abubakar Adams; and Yetunde Elegbeji (APC, Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Ogun State) who is to replace Oriyomi Onanuga
These four were inaugurated during plenary, their induction marking a partial replenishment of the House membership.
